City enters flood season

AS of yesterday, the city entered the 122-day flood season, according to Shanghai Flood Control Headquarters.

Total rainfall of the floodwater season will be more than the average in past years, according to forecasts from the city's weather station and hydrology station.

There will be two or three tropical storms or typhoons in the city, one of which will be severe. Tornadoes and hail are also possible.

The tidemark of the Huangpu River will exceed 4 metres four times during the season, according to the forecast. Tide levels will rise more obviously in the case of bad weather such as typhoons.

According to the headquarters, there are still some weaknesses in the city's flood prevention equipment.
