On-line porn editor in police custody
By Li Xin

AN employee of a web client company from Central China's Hunan Province has given himself up to police for posting 33 pornographic pictures on a website which also provided links with international pornographic websites.

The man has told Shanghai police he published the obscene material on the company's homepage to win more advertisements by attracting more visitors to the site.

Www.playgirls.myrice.com in www.myrice.com received over 1.45 million hits within the space of just a few months.

Entrusted by the Ministry of Public Security, Shanghai police took prompt action by severing the links between the website and its server as soon as they were informed by the ministry.

They then had related information copied to proceed with the investigation.

On the basis of a close analysis of LOG documents and IP address, the police established the user of the server to be a Xi'an-based company, Xi'an Wenhua Science and Technology Co Ltd.

The police hurried to Xi'an, the capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province, and conducted an intensive investigation before the suspect surrendered himself.

The man has been charged with disseminating pornographic material and is awaiting prosecution.
