Cosmetics JV

JAPAN-based Kanebo Co Ltd has completed construction of the plant for its joint venture - Shanghai Kanebo Cosmetics Co - with the local Shanghai Jahua Co. The new production base, with a total investment of 119 million yuan ($14.37 million), will start operations this month to produce Aqua-brand cosmetics for the Asian market. So far, the 113-year-old Kanebo Co, who covers cosmetics, personal care products, clothes to information sciences, has a total of over 20 joint ventures in China.

Vacation ontime

BRITISH-BASED Freedom Vacations, one of the world's major timeshare vacation company, has opened its Shanghai branch last week. "With the growth of Chinese economy, I am confident that I can have a 1 million membership in the Vacation Owners Club within several years in China," said David Moulds, president of the firm at the opening of the branch.
