Austrian brass ensemble
By Xiao Zhang

DIRECTED by Josef Amann, Stella Brass Ensemble is a professional troupe delving into music of all ages and styles. Their repertoire ranges widely from the Renaissance and Baroque styles to modern.

Although musicians in the Austrian ensemble have received professional and traditional musical training, they are always trying hard to break the boundary between classical and pop music.

The ensemble has held many concerts across the world, in Europe, Russia and the United States.

"We not only present the music of famous composers such as Bach and Strauss, but also less well-known composers," said Amann, conductor and director of the ensemble.

A composer as well, Amann has adapted several classic composers' works into modern light music.

On April 28, at Shanghai Centre Theatre, they will present a concert. Seven individual pieces and a musical called "Waldeslust" (Anecdotes in the woods) will be presented.
