LG expands TV tube production

THE LG Electronics Group of the Republic of Korea (ROK) has announced recently it will invest 2.3 billion yuan ($277.8 million) in expanding two colour TV tube production lines in one of its companies in Central China's Hunan Province.

The LG-Shuguang Electronics Company was jointly set up by LG and two local companies in Hunan, and it can produce 3.3 million colour tubes annually, making it one of the eight largest colour TV tube producers in China.

Construction of the two new production lines will be completed in early 2001, giving the joint venture a total of four colour TV tube assembly lines. The plant will be able to produce 6 million colour tubes a year.

LG has launched its largest overseas production base in China with 10 production operations, six branches, and six after-sales service centres.
