Golf villa estate nears completion
By Tracy Tao

PUXI will have a "golf villa estate," currently under construction in Hongqiao, in the latter half of this year.

The first phase construction of the villa area, 36 of its total 229 houses, will then be finished and presented to the market.

The golf villa estate, covering an area of 50 hectares, is surrounded by Yan'an Road West, Hongxu Road and Wuzhong Road, which provide a good road network in the centre of the city.

The 36 houses stand at the south of its planned 30-hectare golf course, the only course with night-time illumination facilities in Shanghai, said Xu Wenkang, sales manager of Hongqiao Golf Villa.

The design effectively turns a standard 9-hole course into a double-tee double-green 18-hole course. Ronald Fream, director of US firm, GolfPlan, designed the course.

The 70,000-square-metre villa area above ground will be free from traffic, allowing leisurely strolls and safeguarding children.

In order to maximize light and air, each house is designed with at least 16 windows, with all French windows facing south.

"Houses to be sold in the first phase construction are from 430 square metres to 291 square metres," said Xu.

The houses will be unfurnished to allow residents "to furnish according to their own tastes," said Xu.

The huge complex that will be "Hongqiao Villa Community" will include a shopping centre for villa residents only, a housekeepers' training centre, a water purifying system and central management system and other property management services managed by Kiu Lok Property Services Ltd, one of the Hong Kong New World Group's companies.

The average purchase price for the villas is $1,492 a square metre or $645,000 per villa, with the most expensive at the moment at $1,801 per square metre, said Xu.
