Three women drug dealers face jail

THREE young women have been sentenced to criminal detention in Pudong for drug trafficking after they became addicted to drug abuse. According to sources from Zhangjiang Procuratorate in Pudong, 30-year-old Shi Honghua from Pudong, unemployed, began to use heroin after being told by one of her friends that the drug could help her lose weight. By the time Shi realized the drug was having a negative effect on her health instead of helping her to lose weight, she was already addicted. She was forced to turn to drug trafficking to obtain the money needed for buying the drug. Shi earned several hundred yuan from drug dealing. She was captured in April last year while concluding a transaction at the home of a friend. A second young woman sentenced by the procuratorate, Wang Rong, 28, also from Pudong, ran a grocery store. She began to use heroin after her friend told her it could alleviate chronic pains she had been suffering in her feet. The drug proved effective at first in dulling the pain, but Wang quickly became addicted to it and also started dealing. She sold 1.1 grams of heroin to one of her friends on four occasions and was picked up for dealing in April last year. Ge Lihong, 25, from Pudong turned to drug trafficking out of love for her boyfriend. In 1994, Ge fell in love with her neighbour, Xu, an addict. Xu had got hooked after being told by his friends that the drug could prevent fatigue. Ge began dealing in supplies of the drug in Xu's possession and was later arrested for drug trafficking.
