Woman knifed in Pudong after fight with boss

ONLY a few weeks after reports that a security officer chopped off four of a woman's fingers in South China's Guangdong Province sparked outrage, another report has surfaced that a migrant woman in Pudong suffered a similar injury when a disagreement with her boss turned nasty. Liu Wenying, a young woman from Southwest China's Sichuan Province, came to Shanghai last year and started working at Zhu Fulai's noodle store in May which is located in Nanhui County in Pudong. Her boss Zhu demanded she leave her ID card with him while she was working in his restaurant. Liu then worked over 12 hours a day on a meagre monthly wage of 350 yuan ($42). On December 13 last year, Liu told her boss she wanted to quit her job and demanded he return her ID card. But Li Lijuan, the boss's wife said she had already handed the card back to Liu herself. Six days later, Liu and her husband Yu Shilong argued about the card with her boss again. The boss's cousin Chen Liangming warned Yu to drop the subject and his threats frightened Yu who ran out of the store. Liu was left behind with Chen who produced a knife and slashed her hand and fingers. Liu's injuries have been evaluated as a "slight hurt" by legal medical experts. Two of Liu's fingers were fractured and her right arm also suffered a fracture. Nanhui Public Security Bureau is still searching for Chen Liangming who ran away after attacking Liu and is still on the run, according to an official with the bureau surnamed Guan.
