Over 20 hurt in bus crash
MORE than 20 were injured, three seriously, when a No 116 bus hit the pillar of the Inner Ring Road yesterday afternoon. The accident happened about 16:30 yesterday near the intersection of Yixian Road and Changjiang Road South in northeast Shanghai and no deaths have been reported. Jail sentence for man who raped housemaid

A MAN who raped his housemaid on several occasions has been sentenced to three years and six months' imprisonment, according to sources from Yangpu District Procuratorate. On May 8 last year, Song Guangliang, a self-employed businessman, hired a Sichuan girl surnamed Li to help with housekeeping and preparation of dinners for him and his son. Song asked Li to stay in his house, but she was reluctant because his wife was away visiting relatives. Song managed to persuade her that it was purely for the sake of convenience. In the afternoon of May 11, however, soon after Li had retired to her own room after finishing her household chores, Song came into her room and raped her. The girl tried to fight him off, causing injury to her attacker's face, arms, chest and lips. At midnight on the same evening, Song raped her again and during the small hours of the next morning, after watching some pornographic videos, he raped her for the third time, according to the sources from the procuratorate. When Song's wife returned home that evening, she saw Li - whom she had never seen before - weeping in a room of the house. After she found out what had happened, Song's wife went straight to the police.
