comments: Washington Post,July 21, 2005 pages A1 and B1: The Year of the Panda - Panda is well liked by Kid
and Adults as well in USA. I am sure that homosapiens in America can do better to promote positive relations
between the USA and China in the days to come for the benefits of the folks of two great nations on both
sides of the Pacific re a better future in the 21st century. Amen! July 21, 2005

comments: Washington Post,July 20, 2005 has two news items, one is the resumption of 6-nation talk starting
July 26th and the other is a Pentagon Report about China. Inflammatory rhetoric or benign depiction would be
a matter of perception. I would endorse the view of Henry Kissinger re Sino-US and US-China relations: We
must think about our children and our children's children in the 21st century for peace and economic
development in the nuclear age. Let us ponder, reflect, contemplate and reason for the positive scenarios in
the days to come. Nobody should or would impugn the well-being of all homosapiens on earth in East Asia and
the world.

comments: Washington Post,July 19, 2005 Business section D1. Wall Street firms love deep-pocketed corporate
clients eager to make splashy deals. Wall Street loves CHINA where firms are cash rich and often enjoy low
cost financing from state banks. Chinese firms have emerged as major players in big deals such as Lenovo for
IBM PC,Oil firm Cnooc for Unocal and Haier for Maytag. It is always a matter of mutual benefits in economic
activites. Francis Shieh,Economist.

comments: My great aunt and uncle, Agnes and Harold Dollar, lived in Shanghai in the twenties and thirties.
The Dollar steamship lines had their home base in Shanghai. The family home was on Bubbling Well Road, which
I understand is now Nanjing Road. I have heard that the old home is now a hospital. We will be visiting
Shanghai on July 31st and would love to see where the old home was located. Do you, per chance, have any
idea what the address would be? We have pictures of the home, but no address. We will be leaving the U.S.
on July 23rd, so if you could send any info before that, it would be wonderful. Thank you so very much. We
are truly forward to seeing your beautiful city. We will be arriving on the Pacific Princess cruise ship, so
unfortunately, we will have only one day in Shanghai. I will look for to hearing from you. Thanks so much.

comments: IMF(International Monetary Fund: It is hard to find strong evidence that the Chinese currency(Yuan)
is much undervalued. Maybe more flexible exchange rate rather than revaluation outright in the future as some
politicians are pushing such revaluation in the USA. "Economist" magazine published such information in a
past issue and I am submitting such for the readers of Shanghai Star for understanding. Moreover, Nobel
Laureate Economist Robert Mundell made his analysis with insights and vision in the same rationale. July 16,

comments: Chinese firm buys research organization: Xinhua Finance,a HK-based financial services and media
firm, acquired Washington Analysis,a pioneer in the business of providing research on federal government
programs to money managers such as Fedelity Investments, J. P. Morgan and Merrill Lynch Asset Management.
Alperstein, the president of the firm said:"We don't have a client that isn't interested in China." Published
by Washington Post,July 15, 2005 on page D4. That is positive news for readers of Shanghai Star and China.

comments: FedEx will close its Asian hub in the Philippines and replace it with a new $150 million facility
in Guangzhou,China. The new cargo-handling center at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, scheduled to open
in December 2008, will better serve clients doing business in China. UPS(United Parcel Service) will open an
air-cargo hub in Shanghai as part of efforts to launch a domestic Chinese express delivery servie this year.

comments: Corporate ties between the US and China continue to develop linking the two giant economies while
bringing US financial capital and management to bear on China's free enterprise. Goldman Sachs, the US
investment bank has joined with the German financial firm Allianz AG to seek the purchase of $1 billion stake
in the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. As an economist, I have sent my previous blogs relating to
China's market economy to endorse economic globalization in the 21st century as envisioned by international
economists.

comments: Unocal shareholders reconsider bid i.e. They do not think CNOOC's bid presents any threat to US national security and are confident that the Bush administration would not block a deal by the Chinese company to buy California-based Unocal. Post,July 7, 2005
