A CHARITY performance to raise funds for the Indian Ocean tsunami victims is to be held at the theatre of the Oriental TV Station on the evening of January 6.

The performance, organized jointly by the Shanghai Charity Foundation (SCF), the Shanghai Red Cross Society and local media groups, will be aired live by major local TV and radio stations.

Famous singers and sports stars from around China will be invited for the performance.

“It’s really hard to organize such a big performance within such a short period of time. But many stars are enthusiastic about giving a hand this way,?said Jin Zhongyu of SCF.

The organizers welcome warm-hearted locals of all walks of life to the site to make donations.

Charity auction

A charity auction will be held on January 15 (Saturday) in No. 5 on the Bund. Art works by foreign artists in Shanghai as well as local artists (the majority are paintings) will be auctioned. All the funds collected will be donated to the victims of the South Asia tsunami through the Shanghai Red Cross.
