A CONCERT supporting the campaign against piracy is to be held next month.

At the press conference announcing the event, pop stars waved big hammers at a small iceberg engraved with the word “Piracy? showing their resolution to take action against the practice.

Stars from the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan will join hands to present the show. This is the seventh anti-piracy concert held as part of the annual Asian Music Festival.

William So (Wing Hong) from Hong Kong said that he had found six or seven CDs of his songs, all of which were pirated. One of his popular albums sold only 120 authentic copies, as opposed to approximately 300,000 pirated copies.

Mainland singing groups like Dadi, Three sisters from Tibet, Girls?Dorm, renowned TV-presenter-turned-pop singer He Jiong and other stars will perform together with winners from the Asian New Star competition.

Qiu Zhongyi, chairman of the Asian Music Festival Organizing Committee, said the overwhelming piracy of musical products seriously threatens domestic original music. “It is an urgent job for all of us musical workers to purify the market and support authentic musical products.? “The music industry in China is still immature and in need of efforts from all of us,?said Gu Yuan of Channel V.
