Chen Shuxia

Chen has had her paintings exhibited worldwide. Two main themes interest her still life and the human figure. But a closer, second look reveals that these two themes are not so different after all. Chen's paintings are neither realistic depictions of objects or persons, nor pure abstract compositions. In varying degrees of realism and abstraction instead they hover between the two poles.

The Second Shanghai International Pet Expo and Dog Competition will be held in the East Asia Exhibition Centre. Judges are invited from the American Kennel Club, and over 300 dogs from all over China will participate in the competition.

Bicycle show

An international bicycle exhibition sponsored by the China Bicycle Association opened on April 14, displaying various products presented by about 900 firms at home and abroad, including Italy's Colnago, Japan's Shimano and France's Zefal. More than 50 countries have sent delegations to purchase bicycles at the show. Meanwhile, several photo shows of bicycles are being held to educate visitors about the history of bicycles.

Out Of Order

An English play by Ray Cooney. The action takes place in the suite of a five-star hotel in South Bombay. When Shridhar Lele, a government minister plans to spend the evening with Melody Braganza, one of the opposition leader's secretaries, things go disastrously wrong, beginning with the discovery of a "dead body", trapped in the hotel's unreliable window.

The Rabbit and the Gun

A production adapted from the famous Russian story "The White Rabbit" written in 1953 and very popular among children generation after generation ever since. Tango Emotion

Ninety-Three

The drama is based on one of Victor Hugo's masterpieces, the novel "Ninety-Three". The story is set in the French Revolution and highlights three figures - the Marquis de Lantenac, his nephew Gauvain, and Cimourdain who is Cauvain's childhood tutor. Gavain and Cimourdain are on the side of Robespierre and the Revolution. The Marquis is on the King's side.
