THE design of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Aquatic Park has now been settled, based on a masterplan by EDAW.

Occupying 302.7 hectares adjacent to the Olympic equestrian centre and the Chaobai River in Mapo Town of the Shunyi District of Beijing, the park will host all canoe and kayak events during the 29th Olympic Games in 2008.

EDAW's scheme was chosen because their fully integrated "Master Planning" approach to the Aquatic Park will provide a unique canvas for the celebration of the Beijing Olympic ideals of environmentally conscious, high-technology and people-oriented design whilst ensuring greater benefits for the nation as a whole, Beijing and Shunyi itself.
