- SURVIVORS of the twin tremors that jolted Zhangye City of Northwest China's Gansu Province are battling freezing temperatures while waiting for sufficient cotton-padded tents and other relief materials to reach the area.
The earthquakes, measuring 6.1 and 5.8 on the Richter scale, rattled areas between Minle and Shandan counties of Zhangye City late Saturday, killing nine people and injuring 43 others.
