The Soul of Shaolin The martial arts performance, "The Soul of Shaolin", is based on the daily life of Wu Seng (Monks who practise martial arts) from the Shaolin Temple on Songshan Mountain. The performance looks at some of the most dramatic event of the 1,000-year history of Shaolin. The opera tells a meaningful story about a beggar who bets twice he can stay up outside on snowy nights and finally loses his life. There are only eight characters on the stage and traditional Chinese music and European chamber music alternate throughout the whole performance.
