Soccer gambling uncovered POLICE in Southwest China's Sichuan Province have cracked down on their first online soccer gambling case, nabbing nine suspects, reported Xinhua News Agency. In mid-May before the World Cup started, police in Chengdu, the capital city, detected an illegal satellite TV receiver, which was being used for gambling in the approaching soccer event. Following further investigation, police found that three gambling places were being operated under the name of a high-tech company. On June 17, police caught a man called Li Xinhua from neighbouring Yunnan Province who had just arrived in Chengdu. Li said he just went to Chengdu to explain the rules of online gambling. Primary school poisoned SOME 18 seriously poisoned students in East China's Anhui Province were transferred to Nanjing, capital city of East China's Jiangsu Province last Friday. The tragedy happened on June 4 when a gas station was cleaning its waste gas in Langxi County. Unexpectedly, the gas floated to a primary school only 200 metres away, and 600 students as well as some teachers became victims of vomiting, stomach aches and dizziness. Building collapses A SEVEN-and-a-half-storied building crumpled to the ground Tuesday afternoon in Nanchang, capital city of East China's Jiangxi Province, trapping five workers. So far, three have been rescued and sent to hospital, while two are still missing, reported Yangtze Daily. According to reports, the collapse severely damaged the rear of one building, leaving a room with a wall. Relief workers said the building was scheduled to have three stories, and was completed this Spring Festival.
