Vice President Urges Study of "Three Represent's" at Village Level (10/27/2001)

Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao urged Friday to accelerate the rural economy and increase farmers' income by organizing study on the thought of "Three Represent's" at the village level.

Hu, also Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau, and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, made the call in a teleconference held in Beijing Friday on studying the thought of "Three Represent's" in villages.

Wen Jiabao, member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and vice premier, also attended the teleconference and made a speech.

Presiding over the teleconference was Zeng Qinghong, an alternate member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and member of Secretariat of CPC Central Committee, who is in charge of the "Three Represent's study in rural areas across the country.

Jiang Zemin, in his report to the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, said the Party's door is open to all positive factors of the society, including private entrepreneurs, foreign-invested firm employees, self-employed businessmen and freelance professionals, he also said that the Party should advance with the times.
