Senior CPC Official Calls on Party Members to
Study "Three Represents" Thought (07/03/2001)
Hu Jintao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau
of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC),
said Monday that Jiang Zemin's speech on Sunday is a programmatic
document in carrying out socialist construction and pushing forward
the Party work.
He said that an important task for the Party at present is to organize
all the Party members to earnestly study the speech so as to concentrate
their wisdom and strength to realize the historical task of the
Party in the new century.
He made the remark at a forum held by representatives of outstanding
CPC members to mark the 80th founding anniversary of the CPC.
He said that under the new historical conditions, a fundamental
requirement for the Party members is to study and practise the "
three represent's" thought of Jiang Zemin, general secretary
of the CPC Central Committee.
The thought calls for the CPC to represent the development trend
of China's advanced social productive forces, the orientation of
China's advanced culture, and the fundamental interests of the overwhelming
majority of the people in China.
Hu Jintao put forward five requirements to all the Party members:
to unremittingly study related theories, strengthen the ideal of
Communism, adhere to the Party's tenet, try to make outstanding
achievements, and keep probity and honesty.
Wei Jianxing, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political
Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, was present at the forum.
