legislature adopts decision on election (04/16/2002)
The Fifth Session of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC),
China's legislature, adopted Friday morning a decision on the number
of deputies electable to the Tenth NPC and matters related to the
election.
The NPC meeting also passed two provisions on the election of deputies
to the Tenth NPC from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
(SAR) and the Macao SAR, respectively.

Jiang Zemin, in his report to the 16th National
Congress of the Communist Party of China, said the Party's door
is open to all positive factors of the society, including private
entrepreneurs, foreign-invested firm employees, self-employed businessmen
and freelance professionals, he also said that the Party should
