Zhang Dejiang

The following is the biographical sketch of Zhang Dejiang:

Zhang Dejiang, male, 55, Han nationality, a native of Tai'an, Liaoning Province, was born in Nov. 1946. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in January 1971 and started to work in November 1968. He graduated from the Economics Department of the Kim Il Sung Comprehensive University; with a university education, he holds the professional title as a Lecturer.

He is now a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee.

1968-1970 Sent to the Taiping Brigade of Luozigou Commune of Wangqing County, Jilin Province, to work in the fields as a young intellectual

1970-1972 Secretary of the Propaganda Group and Communist Youth League Branch secretary of the offices of the Wangqing County Revolutionary Committee of Jilin Province

1972-1975 Student of Yanbian University, majoring in the Korean language

1975-1978 Deputy secretary of the General Party Branch of the Korean Language Department of Yanbian University, member of the Standing Committee of the University's Party Committee and vice- chairman of the University's revolutionary committee.

1978-1980 Student at the Economics Department of the Kim Il Sung Comprehensive University of the DPRK and secretary of the Party branch of the Chinese students studying in the university

1980-1983 Member of the Standing Committee of Yanbian University's Party Committee and vice-president of the university

He was an alternate member of the 14th CPC Central Committee and member of the 15th CPC Central Committee. He is now a member of the 16th CPC Central Committee and member of its Political Bureau.
