The following is the biographical sketch of Uyunqimg, who was just
elected vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National
People's Congress (NPC):
Female, born in 1942, of ethnic Mongolian group, a native of Beipiao,
Liaoning province; and joined Communist Party of China ( CPC) in
1966.
Studied at Secondary Science & Technology Vocational School
of Inner Mongolia in 1958-1960; received university-level education
at Party School of Inner Mongolia Regional CPC Committee in 1960-
1964.
Teacher of the Party School of CPC Municipal Committee of Baotou,
Inner Mongolia in 1964-1968; sub-editor and deputy chief of Editing
Section of Baotou Daily in 1968-1979; office worker at Baotou Municipal
Economic and Trade Commission in 1979-1980; deputy head of office
of Organization Department of CPC Municipal Committee of Baotou
in 1980-1983; Standing Committee member and head of Publicity Department
of CPC Municipal Committee of Baotou in 1983-1984.
Director and secretary of the Leading Party Members Group, of Autonomous
Regional Women's Federation in 1984-1988.
Head of Publicity Department, in 1988-1989; Standing Committee
member and head of Publicity Department, in 1989-1994; deputy secretary,
in 1994-2000, of CPC Autonomous Regional Committee of Inner Mongolia.
Vice-chairwoman and acting chairwoman of Inner Mongolia Autonomous
Regional People's Government in 2000-2001; deputy secretary of the
CPC Autonomous Regional Committee and chairwoman of Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Regional People's Government since 2001.
Alternate member of 14th and 15th CPC central committees; member
of 16th CPC Central Committee.
