Wen Jiabao was elected China's new premier of the State Council at the sixth plenary meeting of the first session of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC) at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on March 16, 2003.

Hu Jintao, Guo Boxiong and Cao Gangchuan were elected vice-chairmen of the Central Military Commission.

Xiao Yang was re-elected President of the Supreme People's Court and Jia Chunwang, former minister of public security, was elected Procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
