The following is the biographical sketch of Zhang Siqing, who was
just elected vice-chairman of the 10th National Committee of the
Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC):
Zhang Siqing
Male, born in 1932, of Han nationality, native of Luoyang, Henan
Province.
Joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in October 1952; began
to work in 1949, with education level up to senior high school.
Logistics supplier to the army in Henan and Land Reform group head
in Pingle County, Guangxi, in 1949-1952; clerk, investigator of
Central-South Section of Supreme People's Procuratorate in 1952-1954;
deputy group chief and assistant judge of Northeast China Work Team
of the Supreme People's Procuratorate in 1954-1955; procurator of
Yangtze River Water Transport Procuratorate and Hubei People's Procuratorate
in 1955-1966; subject to forced laborat "May 7" cadre's
school during "Cultural Revolution" in 1966-1969; served
public security organ in Hubei Province in 1969-1973;deputy director
of General Office, vice-president and deputy secretary of Leading
Party Members' Group of Hubei Provincial Higher People's Court in
1973-1983; president and Leading Party Members' Group secretary
of Hubei Provincial Higher People's Court,director and CPC Committee
secretary of Hubei Provincial Department of Public Security and
concurrently first political commissar of Hubei Armed Police Corps,
and Standing Committee member and concurrently secretary of Political
Science and Law Committee of CPC Hubei Provincial Committee in 1983-1985.
Deputy procurator-general in 1985-1993, and procurator-general
in 1993-1998, of Supreme People's Procuratorate.
Vice-chairman of CPPCC National Committee since 1998.
Alternate member of 13th CPC Central Committee; member of 14th
and 15th CPC Central Committee.
Vice-chairman of 9th CPPCC National Committee.
