Wang Xuan -- Vice-chairman of 10th CPPCC National
Committee
The following is the biographical sketch of Wang Xuan, who was
just elected vice-chairperson of the 10th National Committee of
the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC):
Male, born in 1937, of ethnic Han group, a native of Wuxi city,Jiangsu
province.
Starting to work upon his graduation from the Mathematics and Mechanics
Dept. of Beijing University in 1958; and later professor and an
academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and of the
Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).
Studying in the computing mathematics specialty at the Mathematics
and Mechanics Dept. of Beijing University in 1954-1958,a teacher
of the Mathematics and Mechanics Dept. at Beijing University in
1958-1959, teacher of the Radio Department of Beijing University
in 1959-1978, and director of Computer Science and Technology Research
Institute (CSTRI), and associate professorand professor of Beijing
University in 1978-1995; vice-chairman ofthe Central Committee of
Jiu San (September 3) Society, director of CSTRI and chairman of
Beijing University's Founder Group Corp. in 1995-1996; vice-chairman
of Jiu San (September 3) Society, vice-chairman of the Chinese Science
Association and director of the CSTRI and chairman of Beijing University's
Founder Group Corp. in 1996-1998.
And vice-chairman of the Education, Science, Culture and Health
Committee of the NPC, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of
Jiu San Society, vice-chairman of the Chinese Science Association,and
director of the CSTRI of Beijing University from 1998 to date..
Elected vice-chairman of the National Committee of the 8th CPPCC,
a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of
the 9th CPPCC and vice-chairman of the Education, Science, Culture
and Health Committee of the 9th NPC.
