following is a biographical sketch of Cao Gangchuan, whose nomination
as State Councillor was approved Monday at the First Session of
the 10th National People's Congress (NPC):
Male, of Han nationality, born in December 1935, native of Wugang,
Henan Province.
Joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in July 1956 and the
People's Liberation Army (PLA) in July 1954. Graduated from the
Military Engineering School of the Artillery Corps of the former
Soviet Union. Holding the military rank of general.
