He should have informed on his injury much earlier. He posted a letter in his blog but has not really speak to reporters till now. His sincerity is questionable. All said, even if he is not injured, I don't think he will win the race.

If you have injured in training. You must speak franky before the race, or you should insist to the end of the race.The gold medal is not very important.Even if you are the last man, we adorn you. I can't accept your sudden quit. Your injury must be open to the public more earlier.your can't disappoint all the world by sudden withdrawel.

My feeling is even if Liu doesn't have foot injury, the chances for him to win is extremely slim. It is because, unlike other sport such as gymnastic or ping pong, track and field rely much more on strength rather than skills which strength will decrease with age even in 4 years. Besides, further foot injury as a result in participate in running and hurdling this time may exclude him from future competition which is disastrous.
